Quadcoin as a new cryptocurrency
« on: April 12, 2013, 11:37:11 PM »
I was inspired by the post of iBits about a new cryptocurrency https://www.bitcoinforum.com/alternative-cryptocurrencies/new-currency/

This has been my idea from the time I learned about Bitcoin. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer so I leave the rest of these to the good guys, below is the idea behind Quadcoin:

DISCLAIMER: This is just an idea. It is up to you guys on how you will take it. I don't intend to offend any one or convey any bad intentions or suggestions.

A quadrillion is equal to 1,000,000,000,000,000

Because the limit of Bitcoin and Litecoin, 21 million and 84 million respectively, I thought why not make a program that could make a cryptocurrency reach up to quadrillions and something that would exceed it would be too boring to mine.

But why quadrillions?

1. Because people are getting crazy and obsessed about mining cryptocurrencies a lot of names for a cryptocoin are popping up. I envision Quadcoin to be the most central cryptocurrency that would be made available to all.

2. Because of increasing population more and more people would mine for cryptocurrencies and I think with this huge amount there would be some available for those who want to have it.

3. Because of continuous development in technology, many mining stuffs will be produced and will be made even faster than what was previously made. It would take a couple of decades or so I think, before all Quadcoins will be mined.

4. Because hackers are also gaining in number and we can't do anything about it, if they really want to hack something they can do it, so, even if they hack Quadcoin there will be more left for everybody.

5. If ever some governments became successful in regulating cryptocurrencies I think this large number of Quadcoin and its monetary value would be too big for them, it would be an additional government budget and spending just to regulate it. So they have to mull over it.

You may add some but again this is just an idea not intended to offend anybody.

While I find the idea of other cryptocurrencies facinating as well, it is worth noting that the limit of 21 million was not set as some arbitrary high limit. As miners get closer and closer, it becomes more and more difficult (this much I'm sure you know.  ;) ). The 21 million saturation limit is designed to curb inflation. Still, BTC is an experiment, and nobody really knows how it will turn out (exciting!  ;D ). Perhaps there are flaws that will wreck the system, and quadcoins is the solution. The great part... we'll know soon enough!

To Daniel Olsen, thanks for the info it was helpful. I found out that 1 BTC represents 100,000,000 which means 1 BTC is divisible by 108. Also you're correct 1 bitcoin is divisible down to eight decimal places.

According to Bitcoin Myths "There are really 2,099,999,997,690,000 (just over 2 quadrillion) maximum possible atomic units in the bitcoin design."
