Are you spending your Bitcoin?
« on: August 10, 2014, 11:32:03 AM »
I just read this:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/how-will-you-spend-your-bitcoin/10/8/2014

Makes an interesting point.  If we buy stuff with BTC and the company just sells it for cash right away, it's probably not good for the BTC price.

What do you think?  Will shopping with BTC be good or bad for BTC?

I prefer to keep only some of the money in them, and not all

Invite your friends and earn Bitcoin when they complete a purchase. Keep an eye on how much you'll be able to earn each week. Earn up to 100% of fee as a mining commission. Get paid in Bitcoins and receive monthly pay-outs for your affiliate. Each of your affiliates will generate lifetime commissions.

Since PayPal is about to implement a crypto payment service, I assume a whole lot of people will start paying with BTC for all sorts of things.

Now it's not an optimal medium of exchange, but I believe all the companies accepting Bitcoin approximate those good days when we can pay in Bitcoin.

I'd like to spend my bitcoin as cash, but in my country there arent that many opportunities to use it as payment method.
However compared to like 3 or 4 years ago the situation has gotten much better. They've also been trying to do it through different apps where you transfer some of your bitcoins to an account which is basically a custodial wallet.

I wonder when we'd be able to just walk into a store and buy a carton of milk with BTC.

Mostly stashed up, haven't spent any in a long long time. It's not really a trading currency, more of a commodity quite frankly. (Like gold, I guess.)

If it gets more widely implemented, do you think you'd begin using it to pay for stuff?

Longterm BTC price should go up. I dont recommend spending bitcoins on shopping (Unless you want to look as stupid as the pizza guy)

I hope the price settles, otherwise it will only be an intermediary for micro transactions...
