How did you get into bitcoin?
« on: February 04, 2012, 11:05:08 AM »
I was asking myself how did I get into bitcoin and I took a little to remember.
The very beginning was when I was about to buy a graphic card... I was googling it.

And you?

I was reading a book called “The Internet of Money” by Andreas M. Antonopoulos. It was the first time I had heard about bitcoin and it really captured my attention. I started reading more about bitcoin and found out that there were a lot of people who were interested in this new technology.
I started by buying some bitcoin in order to get a better understanding of how it works, but then I got hooked and now I am working on building an exchange for cryptocurrencies!

Indeed. Is she herself into bitcoin, or just read about it and thought it would be good?

There were three causes:
1) to earn a living. No asset class, in my opinion, has more promise right now.
2) banking institutions' carelessness and avarice.
The financial crisis of 2008 taught us that banks would do anything to increase their wealth, even at the expense of bringing down the entire economy. The tax payer bears the cost of their failure. Cryptocurrencies are a method to get past the occasionally absurd costs banks charge for international transfers and to lessen our reliance on organizations that have far too much ability to enrich themselves at the expense of everyday people.
So, I know this is the place to invest when I hear a Wall Street or large financial CEO of a multi-billion dollar company (JP Morgan, IMF, Allianz) talk trash about cryptocurrencies!

3) the many uses and excellent sense of community in many projects, such as Sloboda Studio. I still don't fully get all the potential uses for cryptocurrencies and blockchain, but projects like SolarCoin that reward individuals for using solar energy on their rooftops and encourage green energy, for example, are really intriguing. Cryptocurrencies provide much more than just a substitute for money.

Found out about Bitcoin after learning about how the central bankers are owned by a cartel of just a few different families.
Saw it as a good solution, but was so pulling the trigger. Got into Gold instead (worst financial decision of my life).
Only got into Bitcoin several years later after the price pumped by about 20,000% haha
Ah well.. better late than never :)
