I was asking myself how did I get into bitcoin and I took a little to remember.
The very beginning was when I was about to buy a graphic card... I was googling it.

It was the summer of 2010. My friend asked me to look for information about overlay networks.
I examined the source code of FreeNet, I2P, and so on. Finally I came across Bitcoin and I was
surprised that in the context of other systems Bitcoin is very weak and vulnerable. "So what's
special about it?" I thought. Then reading carefully I realized that it is something more than
just the overlay network. It is a cryptocurrency system that perhaps can change the world.

I was reading a Wired article on Bitcoin and the Silk Road back in April 2011 or so. After that I started to look into Bitcoin a bit more and thought the concept of a cryptocurrency was pretty awesome.

Before you know it, I was purchasing a mid range GPU to mine a bit...and this was when the price was sub $10 and the difficulty was under 500k. Good times..if only I had kept my coins instead of selling them right away

I hazily remember something from early 2011, but I couldn't get the client to work and then bitcoin crashed and I lost interest. Then I returned in January 2012 upon seeing some article "bitcoin alive and kicking" on reddit and was hooked. I can't mine, I'd cook myself in this small flat

so ended up trading. Invested 23 BTC into MPEx IPO.. and the rest is history.

My favorite NZB site was shut down and I wanted to join and the only form of payment they took, was BTC. I was thinking what the hell is BTC and how do I get some. Mining hashing, it just seemed weird. Finally figured out how to buy some and paid 60 for about 10btc. Lost interest till the big rise and my wallet that was worth about 20 buck was now worth about 400. I was contacted about a business that was focused on bitcoin for its main currency, commissions and new projects. Joined it and have made some bitcoin from it. It has since gone on to release several bitcoin related websites and is moving on to bigger projects. Early on it struggled because most people didn't know about bitcoin, including myself but things are looking good now. It has managed to give me several thousand dollars worth of bitcoin so I'm pretty happy with it all so far.

Well i broke my bitcoin virginity today and am i the proud new owner of some btc

,

i started reading about bitcoins back in 2011 but was abit to scared to buy some as i herd all these horror stories and hackers and blah blah blah. so it wasn't really till the last few months iv really been watching btc markets and values. ( really makes you a little crazy) also with the price sky rocketing and today falling under 430GBP i thought this was the best time to buy some.

we really need to start making this process easier, although it is quite straight forward you kind of have to know what your doing in order to really understand it. also i would really like to start brancing btc out in my area, i speak to people on a daily basis about btc and they have no clue. so i was thinking if there is a simpler way of introducing this to a business, i dont mind doing the leg work and approaching . i may sound a bit too optimistic like every new person to the world of bitcoin but i really want to start opening this up where i live, (uk) pretty much a untapped market.

It all started in 2011, on one of my favorite message board communities that I am a part of.

We are ALWAYS discussing VPN's, and when Silk Road became the rave on the underground market, TOR came up.

The tech heads on the board began discussing this protocol called "bitcoin" and that that was the only thing one could use when dealing with the particular VPN, TOR.

And slowly, but surely, I came around and started to understand that bitcoin was way, way, way bigger than a single clandestine website pushed by the mainstream media!

This...is...a REVOLUTION!

I just read this somewhere, in the news perhaps? Curiosity kills the cat, so I conducted some research about bitcoin and learned the whole infrastructure behind it. Way back, it's $60 and look at it now, its $1000 per BTC. Wow!

For me, when bitcoin became popular in the gaming industry I become more eager to explore what bitcoin is, google and other advice from experts really helps me a lot to know more about it. But the person who inspires me within Bitcoin is Andreas Antonopoulos. He's forgotten more about Bitcoin than I'll ever know, and I learn something relevant every time I see him on YouTube doing a speech in front of hundreds, or on Adam Kokesh.

I googled and encounted news about bankrupt of Mt.Gox exchange and other bad information, so I decided to stay away from it but again another spam made me to reseach it properly and I learned that many people became rich with it and this coin appeared to be not a fake. I was invited by a friend to meet an "interesting" person he knew. That person was Matt Scott a local programmer,
physicist and chaos theorist. The conversation went many places. Most of it centered on Fractal Geometry but a fair portion revolved around Matt enlightening us on Bitcoin. I didn't get it but went home and downloaded a mining client and began my self education. That was late 2012. I mined a bunch in 2010 after stumbling upon the whitepaper while reading activist forums. Later I threw away my wallet. It is gone.

Later I bought a lot on $0.25 up to $11 while finishing my PhD and I lived on it through university and bought a flat with it. Zero debt.

I run trading bots with some of my portfolio. It is mostly worth the hassle and a decent part time job at that. I use the profits made for living expenses.

I was doing a research about graphics card as well and while I was looking for a cheaper graphics card (as i'm in the middle of low-no money), I came across this site (or a blog. For me I got started earlier this year after a friend mentioned it a couple of time ever since I've tried mining trading playing games(alot), and its been a cool ride and well worth the experience, I've recently been inspired by bitcoin as it looks like there's a lot of opportunities for it in creating better crowdfund and payment platforms especially in the gaming area, not just flash but also mainstream.

Stupidly scoffed at the idea when it first came out years ago, now feel like a dumb ass getting into it a little late. I occasionally do a couple faucets throughout the day just for the hell of it, and I buy small amounts as I can afford to between rent and bills. Currently trying a cloud mining service and *hoping* it's not just scam crap. Tried selling an old *working might I add* Apple IIe here on the forums, but doesn't seem to be any interest in old nostalgic computers. Personally I love the old stuff, don't really want to part with it, but now I see the value of bitcoins is probably a little more worth selling it than keeping it.

I really hope bitcoin does take off, more so than it already has. Would love to see it replace fiat currency!

A work friend was telling me about something that ran on a computer and looked like usb flash drives with lights blinking and that this person was making money at it, he didn't want to tell him what it was because if everyone knew then the price of equipment would become more expensive and everyone would do it.

So I started searching the web for anything that resembled this after about 2 months of after work searching I found bitcoin mining.
When my friend asked if that was what he was doing he said yes, so I asked if he would meet with me and help me get started, to my surprise he said yes.

We met and got along and he helped me with anything I needed to know, I bought 2 - S5's in April 2015 and did nothing with them still wondering if this was really worth it at all considering that they were only going to make about $2 dollars a day profit over the cost of electric so they sat until August when he gave me a call out of the blue and asked how I was doing with it, I replied nothing, he said he would come over and get things going if I was interested.

After getting me set up and seeing it work I became more interested, he told me that there was a new AntMiner available so off I went into Bitmining.

Now I am running 20 - S7 AntMiners and looking for ways to expand because the service at my house is maxed out.
Still have a lot to learn hoping to do that here. I am only 4 Months old.

Ha i first got into bitcoin many years ago after looking for some way to transfer webmoney ,never did find a way that i trusted to do wmz to bitcoin dont know about now its probably easier,but it made me look into bitcoin and the more i looked the better i thought it was as a solution to online payments,so i started using it mainly to pay for online gaming and since there are lots of places you get it for nothing more than a few clicks it was perfect,saves me digging into my own pocket and since i am a bit of a surfing nut i kind of like searching through all the faucets,the good news as i see it is there is about to be a shift from boring plain old style faucets to more with a design element to them and even some are moving towards having a social element with chat boxes and forums.

I don't remember the year, probably 2010, but I saw a post about it in some Linux forum and started poking around. I decided to buy some but it was impossible. There were a bunch of sites that offered them for sale in currencies other than USD, but nothing I had. And the BitcoinFaucet had run dry by then.

Frustrated, I mostly ignored them until last year when I opened a [censored] dot com account and was finally able to buy some. Yeah!

I never bothered trying to mine them, and that's just as well. You need some real computing power to be competitive now.

I got into bitcoin because it became profitable again to set up a mining rig at home. Now all I do is search the internet for new Radeon cards and add to my collection.

I firstly heard bitcoin from a friend years ago. He keep saying that it will be boomed in the next few years. I ignored him that looks like he is dumb. But I was wrong

He has more than money right now and left his 9 to 5 job. He's doing the bitcoin trade as his full-time job. I regret that I didn't listen to him. Now, I went back to him and asked to teach me. Started my first bitcoin trade in Paxful and looking for more trades this coming weeks.
