How do you convince newbies to use BTC?

I just read this post:
http://www.finance-guy.net/finblog/what-is-bitcoin

got me thinking... most people I talk to, don't understand enough about tech or cryptography to appreciate BTC.

How would you promote it to the general masses in a way to help increase adoption?

Wouldn't be pushy about it like some Amway salesman.   Usually, I'll just mention that  I'm using Bitcoin and making some small investments in that community.   If they are so inclined, they can web search bitcoin and get a world of knowledge.   Also, another plus is they will research and learn more about the current financial system.   Anyone that understands the current centralized financial system will automatically want something better.

what if they don't care about the current system and are happy to keep using it, people need motivation to make changes...

The only reason they don't care about the current system is they don't understand it either.   Really, you can only lead a horse to water but can't make them drink even to save their life.    This is probably why we are still in the Early adoption phase.

For one thing, you might consider not being so derogatory when referring to other people.

The word 'newbie' isn't a friendly word, you are not being friendly if you refer to people that way.

If a person is new, and you call them a 'newbie', chances are you lost the sale right away.
It is in your title of your thread, where you called them 'newbies', hardly anyone wants to have anything to do with you.
You are like someone who gives a handshake, but must somehow dominate in the handshake squeezing the persons hand overly hard, and looking at them with a wierd look in your eyes, as if to say that somehow you are greater than them.

No sale, and no friend either. You will not convince people in any friendly way with your approach. you are lacking the social skills to do that, and that is obvious by your title in this thread.

1- you need to humble yourself and be a servant instead of that kind of tyranical 'i am better than you' kind, even then it is hard work to make sales
Hi. I can work for BTC. Looking for work

It depends who you're talking to. I've found that some people enjoy the ideas behind bitcoin, its 'wave of the future' feeling, its disruptive tendencies. Some just like the underlying benefits and potential financial returns. Either way its like anything you're passionate about - if you're passionate about it, people get curious. That or they mock you.
