Hi, everyone. I'm new here.

I did some reading about Bitcoin and mining. It seems to me that these new ASICs that are coming out are gonna change the game.

Now my question might not have a clear answer, but your educated guesses would be appreciated.

If I pre-order one of those 5GH/s ASIC miners and get it 3-5 months from now, would it still be worth it? Would it be too late? It seems to me like EVERYONE is buying these super-fast miners (and I imagine a lot of small companies are making mining "farms" with sthg like 100s of GH/s of combined mining power).

Now, right now, I can easily make ~$5k a year with just one of these 5GH/s miners. But what if 3-5 months from now, 5GH/s becomes obsolete (and slow as hell)? Should I wait for a "2nd generation" of ASIC miners?

I don't want to try to ride the wave only to realize that it's gone already. What do you think?

Also, are there any really good ASIC miners out there that are not pre-order? I'm not looking at the expensive ones. Something around $100 per GH/s speed sounds reasonable...

So far, the only really good ASIC miner deal is the Butterfly Labs 5GH/s for $270... But it's pre-order and can take more than 3 months to ship... Anyone has any other ideas?

Seems like you would need about 10 of those Butterfly jalapenos to make any headway..

If you have large balls and deep pockets. You can make money mining. Some of the Pre order stuff looks promising. KNC, Bitfury, Klondike K16/Nano good price per hash ratio. The unknown factors are the price of BTC and the difficulty  in coming months.
I am considering ordring a KNC Mercury for about 2k. But right now all my limited BTC is in mining shares.

There is nothing you can lay your hands on right now that has a decent ROI. The only ASIC you can get quickly are AM Blades, way overprice 4.5k for 10Gh/s ans AM Block Erupters over priced but looking better as the prices drop. I have few that I got for 1.05btc. But you would need a shoebox full to make some real money.
