Namecoin is a domain name system based on Bitcoin. It extends Bitcoin to add transactions for registering, updating and transferring names. The idea behind this is to provide an alternative to the existing DNS system where names can be taken from their owners by groups that control the DNS servers.

Is there any way to make "bitcoinforum.com" content also work with ".bit" extension?

Have tried the command bellow with no success:
./namecoind name_update d/bitcoinforum '{"info":{"description":"Bitcoin Forum","registrar":"http://bitcoinforum.bit"},"ns":["ns1.dreamhost.com","ns2.dreamhost.com"],"map":{"":{"translate":"bitcoinforum.com","ns":["ns1.dreamhost.com","ns2.dreamhost.com"]}},"email":"****@bitcoinforum.com"}'

This is old, but since no one ever answered.    You seem to be looking in the wrong place to get the forum to also work with .bit .

It is a web server configuration issue, so since you seem to be using Apache, you need to edit the Apache configuration files
to serve the same content when addressed as either domain.   You also then should be sure to use relative URL's so the links will work without changing the domain name the user used to get to the site.

You just need to install namecoin software and run some commands. This is not rocket science.
