NGOs and bitcoin funding
« on: December 16, 2015, 12:31:34 PM »
I see that some non-profits, big and small, started to implement bitcoin as a way to fundraise for a cause or get regular donor support. Still, most NGOs are kind of reluctant to do it. Is it because of the tax that the donors are not so willing to fund via bitcoin?

It would make a lot of sense for such countries as Russia, where the 'foreign agent' law essentially labels all NGOs that get funding from abroad as undesirable and foreign agents. What if donations were coming from undisclosed locations yet with the full transparency of numbers and spending?

It's a great question. We need to start by looking at where funding for NGOs comes from. It's largely from governments and corporations - which don't deal heavily (if at all publicly) with bitcoin.

I suppose you can expand the question to be why don't more charities except bitcoin? The only reason I can think of is that they just aren't aware of it as a funding source.

You should start a campaign to bring awareness to these organizations that they should accept bitcoin.
