Development & technical discussion / My Bitcoin master thesis
« on: November 16, 2012, 08:46:27 AM »
Hello everyone,

I've been working on my master thesis for almost a year and a couple months ago I passed my exam. So, if anyone is interested in reading my dissertation, it's available here:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3658181/PiotrPiasecki-BitcoinMasterThesis.pdf

Its topic is “Design and security analysis of Bitcoin infrastructure using application deployed on Google Apps Engine.”. It mostly considers various security strengths and weaknesses of the Bitcoin protocol, standard client, third party apps and even Bitcoin users.

I'll upload the code I developed for it some other time (it's not really that amazing).

Hope you'll enjoy the reading. I'd like to apologize for the use of polish at the start (it was a requirement), and for some boring introduction of basic things (also a requirement).

The topic is also available on BitcoinTalk:

Bitcoin projects / Vanity Pool - split-key vanity address pool
« on: November 16, 2012, 08:42:49 AM »
Some time ago I created a "pool" for split-key vanity address generation and mining. It is available at:

http://vanitypool.appspot.com/

It basically allows you to outsource your vanity address generation to a third party without the risk of anyone else knowing your private key. If you are a GPU miner, you can also run VanityGen (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804) in order to earn bitcoins (currently it is more profitable than mining blocks!).

There is also a thread on BitcoinTalk about this pool:

Bitcoin mining / TP's Mining Calculator
« on: November 16, 2012, 08:38:08 AM »
For those who don't yet know about it, I have created a mining calculator awhile ago that can give you a lot of important information in regards to mining Bitcoins. You can find it over at:

http://tpbitcalc.appspot.com/

It was updated yesterday with pre-loaded data about Butterfly Lab's BitForce Single ASIC miner. Enjoy!
