It is open-source. Very safe. I never heard about any serious problem with electrum.
Thanks , i just downloaded and configured electrum , however i can't find my bitcoin address ? how do i find it ?

It is easier than anything else. No backup needed. You just need to record your seed and password.
p.s.: Of course you will need to transffer your funds from multibit to new addresses on electrum.
Thanks for replying , actually i haven't even started with multibit yet so i guess i am on the safe side
i just wanted to find out all the necessary information before i start using a bitcoin system and now that you've advised me to use electrum , i guess i would check that out as it sounds easier to use. Anyway is electrum a secure system ?

I am new to using bitcoin and i downloaded multibit , I would like to know how i can backup my bitcoin wallet , I want to reformat my PC and i was told that i should back up my wallet before reformatting my PC. I would appreciate some help from users here.
