As I'm reading a lot of posts here about scams people come here after being scammed and crying for losing money. what are the top tips to avoid scams?

Dora WalletInvestor:
Always do research before you invest in or give payment details to any project, person or company. Never start out with the assumption that the given platform is trustworthy. Instead, do some googling. It's worth looking at both the data of the platform (how long they have been around, do they reveal the team behind it, do they offer realistic profits, etc.) and reviews around the internet. If you have any doubt or found any indication that the platform might be a scam, it's better to avoid. Forex Peace Army has a good collection of scam operations, you can look around on there if you are not sure.
A very important thing to keep in mind is, if something sounds too good to be true, it's probably not true.
Also, people who claim they can help recover your lost bitcoins and such are most often scammers, too.

If someone promises to increase your money quickly without a risk this is usually a scam because you don't need 3rd party investments if you find such a great opportunity. You would get rich with your own money instead.

I totally agree. It's best to rely on your own skills and knowledge, trusting other people with your money is dangerous, and a lot of people use schemes like this to scam people. If someone could indeed guarantee large profits, they wouldn't need other people to pay them to trade.
